Time for a Long-Awaited Mini Vacay!

Lynn and I, along with Brian and Vicki, had made plans (and booked airline tickets) for a trip to Fresno ‘way last April 2020. COVID 19 had other plans that interfered with this!

Soooo … after arranging for credits through Alaska Airlines (they have been wonderful), we were in hopes that in 2021, we could eventually take our trip. Our hopes and prayers were answered! In mid-April, we flew down to Fresno for a week. Gatherings were scheduled with family and close friends, of which most had their vaccinations and a few were only their second shot away. We also drove to the Central Coast for a day. It was a memorable trip in so many ways … but more so because it was appreciated so much!

Brian and Vicki discovered Dutch Bros!

It’s amazing how much we take for granted … such as taking trips, and gathering with family and close friends. When it doesn’t happen, the void is palpable.

Some Highlights

Since last year, my brother Jeff and his wife Cathy had acquired a new home. We were able to check it out during this visit. It was a “first” for all of us.

Brian and Vicki had never been to any of our family or friends’ homes. They had spent time with them during their visits to see us … but never in Fresno. So those were “firsts.”

Vicki had never been to the California Central Coast. I had made plans for several stops, but we didn’t make it past Stop 1 (Cayucos for breakfast) and Stop 2, Morro Bay. We will need to go back there to finish what we started!

Brian has spent very little time in Fresno since he joined the military. We see that changing in the future. They were touched by the generous hospitality and love during our time there. He and Vicki are now talking about taking one trip down there each year.

Brian was able to spend several hours with his cousin Andy, a visit he appreciated. He was also able to reunite with his childhood pal since preschool, Crystal Backowski.

It captures our time there!
