It’s cold, rainy, and windy, and I drug out my sweats again. Mother left this morning, and this evening she is spending the night in Yreka. We spent some great time together, and she never seemed to run out of steam. We should all be so lucky! However, she still recalls memories of my stepfather and had some moments where she really wished he was here with her. This was the first time in her long life that she had ever made a trip like this by herself. A major accomplishment! On Saturday we drove to Whidbey Island and spent time in Coupeville. She also got to see the Lavender Wind Farm. Then on Sunday, Brian, Kristy and the kids, and mother came here to celebrate my 60th birthday. It was quiet and nice, and we ate dinner at the Beach House Cafe to celebrate (yes, Koobies and Morris’s … we ate yeast rolls and chowder… again!). On Monday, Lynn flew back to Fresno to teach a class for the Correctional Academy, only to discover the class was AUGUST 29., not JULY 29. What a doof … tonight he is back, and we are listening to the wind and looking forward to a clear day tomorrow.
