Today, McKenna and I had a “girls day out.” We went for manicures, pedicures, and then lunch at McKenna’s favorite restaurant, The Olive Garden.
We talked a lot about what McKenna likes to do, and what she might want to become. I had an opportunity to mentor her a bit on being self-sufficient so that she could take care of herself if she needed to. My personal philosophy is that every woman (actually everyone) should have a skill or ability that they can fall back on in case they need to make a life change. Example: a stay at home mom that needs to support herself due to unforeseen circumstances.
McKenna is a very good student. She got all A’s last year in school, and is particularly good in math. We talked about STEM.
She really likes working with kids, and might want to be a teacher.
I encouraged her to follow her heart’s desire and make her passion her work. That way it would always be fun.
I hope things stay as they are, and that she doesn’t make the same choices that her mother did. Children are always blessings, but why not be blessed when the timing makes more sense?
