Mother, Lynn and I had a great day at the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain in Vancouver, B.C.   Mother and my stepfather Sixty had made a trip there 10 years ago, and Mother was anxious to share it with us. They had added quite a few features since then. The suspension bridge was amazing. It was a bit disconcerting walking across a jiggly bridge! The view was breathtaking. Then, there were all of the pathways and exhibits on the other side of the bridge. We can’t wait to take the kids there … probably next year. There were wonderful activities for children.

Then, it was off to Grouse Mountain. It’s really a ski resort. We rode a gondola to the top, had lunch in a great restaurant, and then walked all over the grounds. They had a fun logger show and we rode a chairlift to enjoy more breathtaking views of Vancouver. The Winter Olympics will be in Vancouver in 2010, and we could see why this venue was chosen. But they have a lot of work to do before then! Getting to the attractions through Vancouver is a maze. There are no freeways past Vancouver that we know of. So it’s right through the center of the city! Ack! Lynn said the city itself reminded him of Hong Kong. There are tons of high-rise residential buildings all over the city. And, the Chinese outnumbered all other ethnic groups. It’s our understanding from Vancouver residents that many Chinese immigrated from China after England relinquished China.

We are enjoying our time with Mother! I expected her to be exhausted after the long day yesterday (we didn’t get back until close to 9). Not her. She is rarin’ to go again today!
