The year began with Lynn’s left knee replacement. Fortunately, there were no complications. The first two weeks were no cakewalk. We were told that success would be 10% surgeon skill and 90% patient recovery efforts (doing the exercises, going to physical therapy, etc). That turned out to be true!
As soon as Lynn was recovered enough to be alone, Robin was off for a week in LeoLand! Six weeks was as long as she was able to “stay away.” Other trips down to Inglewood occurred throughout the year …. sometimes just Robin, and sometimes both of us.
In March, Lynn had another surgical procedure on his right elbow. That also went well, with no complications. Lynn was delighted to learn that he could take walks again, ride his e-bike, play golf, and do the other things that had been difficult during the last few years.
In April, we, along with Brian and Vicki, traveled down south again to see family and friends in Fresno. A family gathering was held in Fresno; and Evan, Megyn, and Leo were able to join in. Both family and friends saw Leo for the first time! We returned to Washington in time to begin preparing for the spring and summer, which would bring lots of patio time!
On June 22, grandson Grason and his love Ashley Archer were married! It was a beautiful outdoor wedding! The weather was perfect (always iffy in June). The clouds literally parted when Ashley walked across the meadow to meet Grason.
Robin and grandson Slater drove up to Artist’s Point at Mt. Baker and hiked a bit. It was glorious …. the best visibility ever! Robin loves hikes, and Slater is always willing to accompany her. The rest of the summer was spent gardening; spending time with family and friends Dale and Carolyn Kole who are up here every summer; local friends; and enjoying the long sunny days.
In September, we left on a road trip to Colorado Springs, the location of this year’s Annual Military Reunion. The drive was beautiful, as we traveled through states we had never been in before. We visited the Garden of Gods Park (a National landmark); Pikes Peak; a guided tour of the U.S. Air Force Academy; old Colorado City; the WWII Aviation Museum; U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center; and the National Museum of World War II Aviation. Lots of very interesting sights and experiences!
In early November, it was time for another trip down south to see family and friends, as well as spending a week in Inglewood celebrating grandson Leo’s first birthday.
Our Christmas was spent up in Washington this year. Lynn continues to enjoy serving in parking and security at our church, as well as the Local Kiwanis chapter. Robin mentors at the local high school, volunteers at the local library, and enjoys her watercolor painting and book club activities.
Life continues to be good! We are blessed! A Happy 2025 to everyone!
