A highlight (and the last) leg of our month-long vacation was spent in New York with our dear friends Gary and Grace Pendleton, and John and Sandee Koobatian. This was our first trip to the area, and did we ever cram in a lot!

Thanks to Grace, Tour Planner and Guide Extraordinaire, it was an unforgettable trip!
We stayed right in Times Square, and became quite proficient in using the Metro … along with walking for miles each day! We spent the first day on our own, visiting Rockefeller Center, Radio Park, Avenues of America and Central Park.
We learned that there would be a Veteran’s Day Parade that day, so we enjoyed observing that as well. We got to talk to some of “New York’s Finest.”
The next day we took the subway system (Metro) to meet up with a tour of the Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo area. We then headed back to Times Square and our hotel to refresh and relax, before some night life in Times Square.
We toured Ellis Island and the 9-11 Museum and memorials. That was a long and emotional day. We ended up eating dinner at a great restaurant across the street from the memorials.
Day 4 started at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, followed by visits to Grand Central Station, Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Empire State Building, Federal Hall, and Trinity Church. We had a good lunch in Little Italy. During the evening we ate at still another Italian restaurant (hey, we needed to experience the food)!
Part of our last evening in New York was spent on Broadway, where we saw Phantom of the Opera! It was truly like none other! A great trip spent with great friends. Nothing better than that!
